The original neck had a colored veneer down the center which had crumbled. I cut off the old head overlay, glued it to a new neck blank and installed the binding with bent brads and tape. Because this instrument originally had no adjustable t-rod, I installed the Don Teeter hidden rod that adjusts through the hole in the dovetail. You access it with a long rod through a small hole in the tailblock; I didn't have to cut an access hole in the head. When it was assembled it still sang beautifully: you could feel the vibrations on your leg.
