Intonation on a Stop Tailpiece

Here's a cool trick for those old Les Pauls and SGs with the stop tailpiece. You can get them to intonate perfectly and still keep the old school look. You just install pieces of fret wire at the intonation points.

Set up the guitar with new strings and use a bent paperclip under the strings to locate the intonation points, one string at a time. Slide it back and forth until your tuner says it's spot on. Scribe a mark for each string where it intonates. Then take a Dremel tool with the abrasive wheel and cut a small slot for the fret wire. Install the fret wire with a little superglue and you're done. No more endless tuning!
